Oh where oh where have I been?

Well everyone, it has been months since I have done anything with Craft A Picture. You may have noticed how pictures posted have become less and less related to crafts, then less frequent, then nothing at all. I only made it about halfway in the 52 weeks of crafts, due to various needs that as a mother and wife needed to be attended to, life gets busy, and life happens.

Since my last posts I have been a busy woman with a toddler needing my attention, a new job, some stay at home freelance work, a household to take care of, and a marriage to keep healthy. When you are into all that at once, you sort of temporarily forget who you are, numb yourself out, put yourself on hold for a while, including what you may have once been excited about. Since all of this business started my priorities have not been straight. Now, I consider myself a Christian, whom, without God, I don’t know what I would do. But notice when I talk about my busyness I don’t even mention God? On paper I’m sure it looks good. I talk about God sometimes, go to church, read the bible, but do I really devote the amount of time to him that would ultimately be the most rewarding? I’m sure if I did, time, possibilities, and even my creativity may even come to life again.

Saying that, I am not perfect, and I probably may have times where Craft A Picture may have down times because I’m human and can’t put unnecessary pressure on myself, it isn’t healthy and I am NOT superwoman. But recently coming to realize some of these things, seeing the strong people that are in our lives thrive, and going to a new church and meeting new people, have all been truly inspiring to us. My motivation for a stronger faith, getting out and meeting new people, and making crafts have started to come back again.

So with all that, I am happy to say that life has taken a new chapter in our lives. With the encouragement from friends and family, and my husband, I will be re-launching the Craft A Picture blog. The site and Etsy shop will stay the same name and site address, but it will be updated and redesigned. This is not going to happen overnight or be rushed, it will take time. But I will do my best to post updates and sneak peaks at new items to get excited about! I will also be using Blogger instead of Tumblr. I am doing research and really like the feel of Blogger better, and I really like the possibilities of customization. Blogs that I respect and love to read are all on Blogger. I don’t have much other than brainstorming what I want the feel of my blog and shop to look like, so people know the taste, style, and feel of the shop, without question. What I can tell you is, there will be aqua, there will be mint, there will be light grey, and there will be antique white! Oh, and some really cool looking vintage font too.

If you have made it this far, thank you for reading. I cannot say enough how I appreciate your support for the blog, Facebook, shop, and Twitter. So for now, you’ll hear much more, and keep your eyes out! :)

Week 24 - Hymnal Paper Flower Bouquet

Hi everyone,

This week I worked on more items for the paper shop. This week I decided to make a bouquet. This is perfect for a wedding, home decor, parities or whatever the need! I made five flowers for this bouquet. A paper pinwheel flower(with two vintage buttons), a mum, and three paper roses that are slightly different in size. The hymnal is from our local antique store, which adds something extra special. Each flower is individually hand wrapped with twine, then I wrapped the stems together with twine. Once I was done I had a rustic little bouquet, that I’m very happy with and decided to put up on the shop!

Week 23 - L-O-V-E Paper Banner

Hello all!

Well we are almost halfway through, and still going strong. Lately I’ve been working a lot more on all those paper crafts, which has been a blast. I’ve been spending extra time trying to figure out new items to post. After some trail and error, I believe it is time to start focusing my shop in one area, to see how that goes.

This week I had an idea for a banner. I took some of my antique books and used ink and my own handmade stencil to print the letters on the banner. I weaved twine through each letter and finished each end with a loop for easy hanging. Cute huh? I thought I could start selling these in the shop and making custom orders for these for home decor, parties, weddings, etc. They are only $10 a piece and are up for sale!

**(Please note: price may vary for custom orders depending on needs.)**

Thank you all for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Week 22 - Book Page Wall Decoration

Here we are at week 22. With having fun with family, doing household chores, and taking care of an infant, I have found myself playing a lot of catch up lately! There has just been a lot going on in the past month, most of which I’m very happy about. Since we have moved into our little house, our big wall in the living room has served as a holding place for all of my art. Which for a while I thought was pretty neat, but lately it just has been bothering me. After I thought more about it, I realized that design wise there was nothing cohesive on the wall, just a random assortment of different pieces of art that did not all go together. I guess I have my aesthetic, but it can end up looking different a lot of the time. So what I decided to do was make some art that would all go well together and take the art I had and spread it more around the house. Having them all jumbled together like that just makes some important pieces go unnoticed.

So, I took some canvas I had not been using and adhered some vintage book pages on it. I wanted these to look like sketches instead of paintings so instead of paint I just drew on the canvas with sharpie and then I was done! After much leveling and touch ups on the wall I had ended up with some cohesive pieces on this large wall to help pull my living room together. :)

Hope this gives a few ideas for your home! Have a wonderful week!
